Why do you try and find an excuse to do less? IV never said stop sending once we get to 10000... or 20000.... We should try and get AS MANY LETTERS AS POSSIBLE. Aim high my friends.
U got me wrong ,my dear needhelp.I dont need an excuse .What i am doing or have done is not becos of compulsion from anyone.U say as if u have paid me to do.Whatever every one is doing is to fight a common issue.BTB i have clearly mentioned that i will be gettig involved in anymeasures endorsed by the core, meaning i wont like to involve in demands by any passer by henceforth to send this send that etc etc.A simple issue is during the omnibus campign someone asked me for my name address and other details. Now he wanted my phone number to talk to.I mentioned to him to give his that i can speak to him.For that he is not interested. If this guy such a coward to even discuss his identity the why the heck does he campign for million letters and demand others identity.
But my point here was if we want to wait for million siggies for the core to get involved as mentioned by D2K,then it is not worth sending letters.I might get my GC with a PD july 2007 before we collect 1 million letters even with the current pace of USICIS.We find it difficult to get 1000 letters then u discuss about 1 million.Ok assume we sent 1 million letters. Is Bush going to have it safe and file all those papers and have that for discussion.By the time we collect 1 million letters we are increasing the Govtmnts expenditure in removing thrash from Bush's office.
Try to be realistic.Thats all my point is.
Earlier the dates were Feb 9th.I have been thinking that with those collected we/core is about to start a discussion with DC based on that .Now you say march .No one is stopping anyone from writing letters, but why cant we initiate discussion in parallel instead of waiting for 1 million number.I dont mind accompanying to DC is i have been informed atleast 15 days ahead. :)

I did not go to DC because i did not want to get the green card this way.I grew upwatching aunts, uncles coming from USA bearing gifts.I grew up watching cousins go for USA for higher studies. It used to be so special. Now its become so cheap. Now you guys have literally taken it to the streets. There's no difference between those illegal immigrants and us. This H1visa has ruined it for really smart students who come here on F1 with full scholarship.
This software industry and these cheap bodyshopping companies made it nothing more than a whore business.
My heart is broken. I dont care anymore.thats why i did not come to DC.
That sums it all up, you did not want to go to D.C because you did not want to stand up. You wanted G.C where only just you were allowed to come in and then just magically get a green card. If you are venting against companies that is one thing, if you are complaining about passionate and hard working members, we will stand up against you too!
We stood up for our pain and we will stand up against you too. Compete and empower yourself with knowledge, don't be a protectionist that feel only you have the right.Keep your ego aside and wake up and think. We are fighting not just for us but also for the spineless egotistical kinds that think that doing something about a broken system is below their standards. Keep watching out the window, when we make HISTORY. Keep standing in the side lines and crib when we progress. If there were people like you back during our grandfathers and great grand fathers time in India, we would still be living as SLAVES. The only thing good about your point of view is this, IT MAKES US HAVE AN EVEN MORE STRONGER RESOLVE TO FIGHT FOR YOU TOO!

Accountability. Ok great, accountability is a pretty good concept. However I think the OP is targeting the wrong people here.
Do we even dare to hold the CIS/DOS accountable for their wishful manipulation of PDs? These guys can't even give us information that's there in their own systems.
Did we raise our voice when H1Bs (an arch which all of us have passed through) were being demonized by the media and politicians?
So we are not holding the people who have been the biggest beneficiaries of our money accountable, why hold a volunteer group, who are nothing more than regular people like us with families and personal issues accountable for trying to fix something that's broken.
Shoot in the city I live in, it's like the Richard Pryor paraphrase "I see brown people"
Yet when we want to discuss agenda and action items, how many show up: 6, yes, 6.
Maybe next time we'll put up a board for free pizza and beer.
And here you are giving IV lunch money and asking for bill passage.

The problem is, that for all my efforts, people just don't seem to care. The only reason I had any success was the embarrassment I caused the government because of all the soldiers who were excluded. Immigrants in the US are viewed by most people as an unwanted scourge.
My employer has also been no help at all. I have been looking for work outside of the US, but unfortunately, the economic situation makes that a bit more challenging. Sorry if I sound pessimistic. That is just my personal experience.
I agree with you, immigrants (legal or illegal) will always be viewed inferior in this country and we will always be immigrants. I am not sure if I want this tag with me, my kids, their kids all their lives. Sometimes I wonder if this GC path is even worth it. Going through so much trouble every time there is renewal, there is stamping, stamping delays, so much scrutiny, no certainity of coming back once you visit home country, so much even after living here for 6 years and now this back log.
If you read any news on immigrants and read comment section after it, you will realize the hate from people here in this country. Is it really worth it to live in this country, when people here do not want to accept us? No acceptance in community, such high crime. Yes sure there will be some exceptions along the way who will rise to top.
Just to point out the difference the amount of celebration among blacks after Obama won. Was there such kind of celebration after Sonia won or Manmohan became PM from their communities? This shows the kind of differences people have. I am not saying things in India are great, or else I would not be here. Just wondering on my random thoughts if its even worth it.

I flew from Seattle. Started 4:00PM monday afternoon and reached 7AM tuesday. left 5PM tuesday and reached home at midnight. HAd to take an unpaid vacation.
I had asked IV for sponsorship.
I got sponsored for a non-stop and a very comfortable flight. but it was $700. Although IV was able to collect $700 for me(thanks to abhijit), i felt it was a little too much to be spending on one person. I raised another $150 from friends and $75 from my own pocket and bought 2 cheaper tickets instead(with bad schedules) and got another friend of mine to go with me.
I had a choice : spend $700 of IV money on one comfortable ticket
OR
spend $75 out of pocket and hours of talking to others to contribute and get one more person to go with me and fly a weird schedule..
I'm proud to have made the right choice!

Hi All,
I got a notice from uscis on sept 24th stating that my 485 has been withdrawn as my previous employer withdrew my 140. I filed in july 2007 , and ported to a new job in April 2008. I filed an MTR on 24th Sept, but the status of the MTR is still received and pending. Its going to be 180 days since my 485 has been withdrawn on march 9th. And my lawyer is saying that i have to leave this country if we dont get the MTR accepted before 180 days.
Gurus could you please suggest some ideas on all possible steps that can be taken..
Thanks
As per my knowledge, your lawyer waited too long and he/she may not be very well versed in immigration matters. When MTR is pending and If you do not receive anything within 60 to 90 days, you should immediately file an appeal in court. This is what I read on some forums, but I am not a lawyer, consult a good attorney soon. You need a seasoned professional immigration lawyer for this. Wish you very best of luck!

I find your quote to be insulting to a large group of persons, some of whom could be potential members of IV. If anyone had made such a comment about Telgu-speakers or Punjabi-speakers, there would be outrage.
Last I checked, this was not supposed to be desi-centric forum.
There is something with the french language it self. All the people who speak french as their native language, tend to be a$$holes, of varying degrees. This true of the french people and the francophone Quebec people inCanada and the French speaking Swiss. I say, stop flying AF, screw them. It is they who need us, not the other way round

EB 3 India has become joke when u look over all the previous patterns.
Yes, it is. I think, we need to start a separate campaign for EB3. Most of the stuff IV has been doing is geared towards helping EB2. Look at all the analysis and predictions threads. It looks like EB3 doesn't exist.

Thanks for the reply. I talked to IRS and was on the phone with them for 1.5hrs and she said I can apply for her ITIN even though she is not here.
Anybody here got ITIN for spouse even though spouse is not in US?
Thanks.
You can apply for ITIN even if your spouse is not in US. I have done it ealrier but the only condition is she shouldhave visited US on dependent visa last year for your to claim?
-Udaya.

1) Yes, the positive was that the attorney was very helpful in answering the Qs in detail with several follow up questions face-to-face.
2) The members we had never met before who boldly allowed me to video tape their introductions. And committed to being more 'Active'.
3) New member brought two items for the future garage sale. Now seeing that nobody else had acted upon that request, it will probably give him an impression that the next time something is asked of members, it is not to be taken seriously, right? sorry to go into the negative again.
I wouldn't call anyone coward, it is a very strong word. No one would like to be called that. But I definitely saw a lack of commitment or 'proactive' (I dont want to sound like your manager :)) attitude.

If you liked the Aussie immigration so much, how come you are back in the US and in the GC nightmare?
I'm assuming you are in the US now, and caught in this whole GC nightmare. If not, please ignore my mesg.
The US Immigration Law is a nightmare.
Couple of years ago, I migrated to Australia.
blah, blah
Here the US Government cries about anti-discrimination, human rights etc, but those are only eye-wash. They should take lessons from the Australians.

Now I see why you got banned. What you did not realize is others were not rejoicing anything "AT YOUR EXPENSE". They were just enjoying what was available to them. You are the one who wants to make it a zero sum game i.e. gain for others is loss for you and vice versa.
While others were celebrating what was good for them, you want to rejoice others pain. That is just *sic*. I retract my earlier support for you.
.
Please don't misunderstand me, I did not rejoice their pain, I rejoice what was good for me.

It takes a lot of balls to lead and very few have it. I joined IV with with very little expectation and have been primarily circumspect of what can be done. But have I lost hope no. Lets look at the +ve side of this debate. There is pent up frustration and general disdain for the system so far. So lets all collectively make an effort to address the situation. What will happen is anybody's guess!!!! We will eventually get what we deserve.
To the core team once again, please keep momentum. We will help in whatever capacity you need.
